Whoopi Goldberg, one of the hosts of “The View”, has been suspended for 2 weeks after public outrage over her comments about the Holocaust.
The outspoken liberal got into a debate with the other hosts about whether the Holocaust was about racism.
Goldberg made the claim on Monday’s episode of “The View” that Nazis and Jews were both white so it wasn’t a race issue it was a humanity issue. She doubled down on the statement on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”.
Co-host Joy Behar said that the Nazi Jews were a different race. Goldberg replied, “But it’s not about race. It’s not. It’s about man’s inhumanity to other men.”
Co-host Ana Navarro pushed back and said that it’s about white supremacy where Jews, gypsies, and Roma were targeted.
Goldberg responded by saying, “but these are two white groups of people. The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it for what it is. It’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem,” she said.
Once she started receiving a tremendously large amount of backlash she gave a half-assed apology.
On Tuesday, Kim Godwin, President of ABC News released a statement.
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” read the statement from Godwin.
“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” she added. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities.”
Godwin expanded on her reasoning for the suspension in an email sent to staffers of the network.
“These decisions are never easy, but necessary. Just last week I noted that the culture at ABC News is one that is driven, kind, inclusive, respectful, and transparent. Whoopi’s comments do not align with those values,” wrote Godwin in part.
“Whoopi has shown through her actions over many years that she understands the horrors of the Holocaust and she started today’s show with that recognition,” she added. “But words matter and we must be cognizant of the impact our words have.”
The once funny comedian is apparently “livid” after she was suspended and now she’s threatening to quit ‘The View.’
We can only hope she does. She adds nothing to anything.
As is reported in the New York Post:
Goldberg, 66, feels “humiliated” at being disciplined by ABC execs after she followed their advice to apologize for the ill-conceived comments, a well-placed insider told The Post.
“She feels ABC executives mishandled this. She followed their playbook. She went on ‘The Late Show With Steven Colbert’ and then apologized again on ‘The View’ the next day,” a source said.
The source added that while Goldberg is taking the suspension hard and says she wants to leave the show, insiders believe she’s likely just sounding off.
“Her ego has been hurt and she’s telling people she’s going to quit,” the source said. “Suspension from ‘The View’ is like getting suspended from Bravo. The bar is very low.”
If you didn’t know ABC is owned by Disney.
Disney fired actress Gina Carano for her statements regarding the Holocaust. Whoopi Goldberg only received a two-week suspension.
Their hypocrisy is mind-blowing. It would seem that the leftist company can’t draw the line with terminations for the same “offense” though Carano’s social media post didn’t dismiss the reason behind the Holocaust. She pointed out similarities to what led to the Holocaust.
So why was Carano fired while Goldberg was merely given a light slap on the wrist in comparison?
Will Disney speak out on this? Will they finally apologize to Carano for their blatant hatred of anyone even slightly right of the left?
I doubt it. But it is great seeing the mighty left fall hard.
