CHOP Gets Chopped, Finally

Wednesday, July 1, 2020, Seattle police began to clear out Capitol Hill Organized Protest, aka CHOP. Businesses and other locals expressed their relief that the protesters were finally removed. So, CHOP gets Chopped.

Mayor Jenny Durkan ordered the destruction of CHOP on Wednesday after protesters surrounded her house. Durkan authorized police to remove protesters who were “unlawfully occupying Cal Anderson Park area”. This is where CHOP was located.

Business leaders have stated that they are happy that CHOP is gone, but they’re disappointed in the lack of leadership from city officials.

One local resident said, “The most I heard from (Mayor Jenny Durkan) is that she was upset that people came to protest around her house (and that was) not the best look,” the resident told KOMO news. “It’s something I think people will remember when they vote in the future.”

The area has seen an uptick in violence and murder.

Police Chief Carmen Best said shootings, rape, assaults, burglary and property destruction have been reported in the days since her officers left the precinct building, KOMO News reported.

16-year-old Antonio Mays Jr. was shot and killed early Monday, June 29. Callers to 911 said they saw several people fire into the white SUV. A 14-year-old boy, who has not been publicly named, was also critically wounded during the shooting.

Don’t Forget What Durkan and Others Originally Said

Remember that these are the folks who are decrying having a border wall. The first thing they did was put up a border. They don’t want ID’s to be mandatory to get into the country. They required ID’s to get into CHOP. They cry that the police are too violent. Their “police force” are responsible for a majority of those shootings and the death of a child. His friend, a 14-year-old, is currently in intensive care.

Also remember, Durkan called CHOP a block party atmosphere in an interview with Chris Cuomo of CNN.

Durkan: So, I know it will shock you that the President is perhaps not giving an accurate or truthful picture.

We’ve got four blocks in Seattle that you just saw pictures of that is more like a block party atmosphere. It’s not an armed takeover. It’s not a military junta. We will – we will make sure that we can restore this.

But we have block parties and the like in this part of Seattle all the time. It’s known for that. So, I think the President – number one, there is no threat right now to the public. And we’re looking – we’re taking that very seriously. We’re meeting with businesses and residents.

But what the President threatened is illegal and unconstitutional. And the fact that he can think he can just tweet that, and not have ramifications is just wrong.

CUOMO: “How long do you think Seattle in those few blocks looks like this?”

DURKAN: “I don’t know. We could have the Summer of Love.”

A summer of love? It’s been anything but that. The Antifa terrorists took over 6 blocks of Seattle, drove out the police and started murdering people.

That’s anything but peaceful.

Would Durkan have ordered the end of CHOP if the protesters hadn’t marched to her house? Let us know what you think in the comments or forums.
