Naples United Church of Christ will be hosting a teen LGBTQ+ event on Saturday featuring a drag show and ‘forbidden queer literature’.

The Naples United Church of Christ is under fire for planning a ‘youth pride concert’ that will feature a drag show and ‘forbidden queer literature’ while asking children to list their pronouns.

The free one-day event for children between the ages of 12 to 18 is scheduled to take place on May 21 at Naples United Church of Christ.

The church’s pastor, who bills himself as a ‘progressive’, Rev. Dawson B. Taylor resigned last week, according to Florida’s Voice. It’s unclear whether his resignation was as a result of the backlash to the event. The reverend was previously accused of planning to host a secret ‘gay prom’ for students within the Collier County Public Schools District.

The organizers of this horrid event claim that they are simply trying to address issues facing youth such as “LGBTQ mental health, inclusive sex education, since they aren’t provided with that in school, lots of different topics that are important for these kids,” said Daniel Selvey Shaw, a representative for GLSEN Collier County, a support organization for LGBTQ+ students.

Although the title originally stood for Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network, the organization now goes simply by its acronym, GLSEN, pronounced “glisten.”

The “reverend” of this church thinks that a church is an appropriate venue to hold this kind of conference? Or to hold this kind of conference for children?

The Collier County Public Schools district released a statement to Florida’s Voice stating they were not aware of this event.

‘The District was never informed nor contacted about this even. It is not a sponsor of the event, which is being held at a private facility. CCPS also neither authorized nor approved the transportation of CCPS students to and from district school sites by the event organizers. Any inference to the contrary is fully rejected by CCPS,’ it said in a statement.

The school district said that it had spoken to event organizers and explained that it needs to make clear that local schools are not co-sponsor of the event.

Governor Ron DeSantis passed the Parental Rights in Education bill much to the chagrin of leftists and those who want to discuss all things sexual with our children.
