The WHO has identified yet another variant of Covid which popped up in African countries. This prompted former vice president Joe Biden to ban travel to multiple African countries.
A World Health Organization panel convened on Friday to assess the potential of the SARS-CoV-2 variant “omicron,” formerly known as B.1.1.529. The WHO classified the latest variant as a “highly transmissible virus of concern,” which is also what the health agency previously named the delta variant as.
“We don’t know very much about this yet. What we do know is that this variant has a large number of mutations. And the concern is when you have so many mutations it can have an impact on how the virus behaves,” said Maria van Kerkhove, an epidemiologist and WHO technical lead on COVID-19. “This is one to watch, I would say we have concern. But I think you would want us to have concern.”
If you don’t remember, President Trump issued travel bans last year and the former vice president and the former California AG, Kamala Harris, called him all sorts of colorful names.
It’s amazing how a year can completely change people’s narratives. It was extremely racist and bigoted for the Trump administration to take precautionary measures to try and stop Covid from spreading, but it’s completely okay for the installed administration to do the exact same ban.
This newest variant, Omicron, is raising eyebrows but not for the reasons you may think.
The Greek letter that the World Health Organization assigned to the new variant of Covid is triggering accusations that the WHO is once again bowing to communist China.
The WHO explained:
The B.1.1.529 variant was first reported to WHO from South Africa on 24 November 2021. The epidemiological situation in South Africa has been characterized by three distinct peaks in reported cases, the latest of which was predominantly the Delta variant. In recent weeks, infections have increased steeply, coinciding with the detection of B.1.1.529 variant.
The first known confirmed B.1.1.529 infection was from a specimen collected on 9 November 2021. This variant has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning. Preliminary evidence suggests an increased risk of reinfection with this variant, as compared to other [variant of concerns]. The number of cases of this variant appears to be increasing in almost all provinces in South Africa.
The WHO assigns the various variants of Covid a letter from the Greek alphabet, the last letters used were “Lambda and Mu” to differentiate the different variants.
The next two letters in the Greek alphabet are “Nu” and “Xi” which is what should have been used to designate the variant B.1.1.529; however, we are well aware that the next used was Omicron. Why were “Nu” and “Xi” skipped?
Because of communist China.
Nu had been skipped to avoid confusion with the word “new” and Xi had been skipped to “avoid stigmatizing a region”, the WHO said.
A region? Oh, really? A region? What is China’s leader’s name? Xi Jinping. Coincidence? I don’t believe in those anymore.
Despite the fact that the former vice president ordered his racist travel ban on Africa, Fraudci believes that the Omicron variant is already in the United States.
“I would not be surprised if it is,” Fauci said when asked if the new variant is already in the US.
“We have not detected it yet, but when you have a virus that is showing this degree of transmissibility and you’re already having travel-related cases that they’ve noted in Israel and Belgium and other places when you have a virus like this, it almost invariably is ultimately going to go essentially all over,” Fauci said Saturday on NBC’s “Weekend Today” show.
“The vaccines that we use may very well be able to contain this, and then [Omicron] won’t be as serious as some people are surmising it might be,” he said. “A lot of unknowns, which is the reason why we’re all over this.”
Of course, in true Democrat fashion, the freaking out is already starting. New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in New York due to Omicron spreading in Africa already.
Everyone remembers how well New York handles pandemics right? Former Governor Andrew Cuomo is the granny killer.
The declaration goes into effect on December 3 and gives the Health Department the power to limit “non-essential” procedures (will likely be enforced through the lens of equity) at hospitals.
“We continue to see warning signs of spikes this upcoming winter, and while the new Omicron variant has yet to be detected in New York State, it’s coming,” Hochul said.
