Emilio Estevez joins the small number of celebrities who are standing up and saying no to the vaccine mandates.

Emilio Estevez is well known for his role in Mighty Ducks as coach Gordon Bombay. After the wildly successful movies in the 90’s Disney Studios decided to expand the franchise to include a spin-off show. Estevez reprised his role as coach Bombay.

However, thanks to former vice president Joe Biden’s recent mandate, Disney Studios mandated Covid vaccines for all employees, including actors.

Emilio Estevez opted out. He told Disney no and the beloved star will not be brought back in season 2.

As reported at Deadline: According to sources, Estevez, through his reps, has declined to provide assurances that he would comply with the policy. With the two sides at an impasse as the Season 2 scripts were being written and the planned early 2022 start of production was looming, I hear the studio made the call to not exercise the actor’s option and the scripts will be adjusted to continue the story without the character.

Since Estevez would not assure Disney that we would comply with the unconstitutional mandate that is trying to force a medical procedure on everyone, they decided not to pick up his option for the upcoming season.

However, sources close to the 59-year-old, who also served as an executive producer on the show, suggested that creative differences might have been a factor in the power play, according to the report.

Estevez isn’t the first celebrity figure in the past few weeks to step away from a movie or show due to these mandates. Ice Cube backed out of upcoming “Oh Hell No” when the studio producing the movie announced their mandates.
