Is a national divorce in the future for our country? Is there a chance that our great nation can be saved from the divisive government and tyranny that is setting in?

The current state that we see the United States in did not happen overnight. This has been something that slowly crept in over the past few decades while most of us ignored it or said “that won’t happen here”.

We’re at a crossroads now. A nation that is split between radical leftists who can’t agree if they want socialism, marxism, or communism and the right who simply want to be left alone with our freedoms to live our lives. But does that really mean we need to see our nation split up?

The radical left in America has no plans to accommodate those with views that dare to differ from theirs. We have seen this time and time again when the Christian baker is sued and loses for not making a cake for a gay couple. Or you’re thrown into federal prison for 9 months without due process for going to a protest against the tyranny that has taken control of the country.

Or your wife is murdered in cold blood by a cowardly Capitol police officer who shot her through a door for daring to be in the Capitol building.

The thought of the nation splitting up is scary. We haven’t seen this much turmoil since the Civil War and the Revolutionary War. Which, the Revolutionary War was fought over far less tyranny than we are seeing today. Our nation was also not afraid to stand up when the time came to say enough is enough.

A poll was done by the University of Virginia recently that asked this very question. Is it time for a national divorce? When the subjects were polled about the idea of separating into two distinct countries, a stunning number of Americans are in favor of splitting up, according to a new poll from the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics.

“Significant numbers of both Trump and Biden voters show a willingness to consider violating democratic tendencies and norms if needed to serve their priorities,” the poll noted.

“Roughly 2 in 10 Trump and Biden voters strongly agree it would be better if a ‘President could take needed actions without being constrained by Congress or courts,’ and roughly 4 in 10 (41%) of Biden and half (52%) of Trump voters at least somewhat agree that it’s time to split the country, favoring blue/red states seceding from the union,” the poll added.

I’m reminded of a phrase that I heard for the first time as a child. Patrick Henry said it perfectly when he said give me liberty or give me death.

National Divorce

We are so far removed from the patriotism of 1776 when our founding fathers were fighting not for themselves but for the very survival of our nation. The birth of a country that truly believed in freedom. And it is that freedom that has brought us to today. Our pendulum has swung so far left, I’m not sure if we can come back from the damage that they are causing.

Thomas Jefferson has even said, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

Freedom isn’t always free. There are times when we have to stand up to remind the government that they are not the ones who tell us what freedoms we can and cannot have.

Thomas Jefferson and the other creators of our Declaration of Independence said it best:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Could a national divorce be the answer to the problems? I don’t know. It seems that we are naturally separating. We see how our governors are acting. Some, Like Desantis and Abbott, are upholding our freedoms and allowing us to make our decisions when it comes to things like masks and vaccines. While others, like Newsome and Hochul, are mandating those same masks and vaccines while telling people that they will be fired from their careers for not obeying.

We’ll see what happens as things progress. Will people open their eyes and finally tell the installed administration to suck it and keep living their lives? Or will they continue to live in fear?
