ndrew Cuomo, the disgraced New York governor announced his resignation Tuesday amid his sexual harassment allegations.
Soon-to-be former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announce that he is resigning from his political position effective in two weeks following the sexual harassment accusations that 11 women have brought to light.
“New York tough means New York loving, and I love New York and I love you,” Cuomo said, “I would never want to be unhelpful in any way, and I think given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let the government get back to governing, and therefore, that’s what I’ll do.”
“When there is a bias or a lack of fairness in the justice system, it is a concern for everyone,” he said. “There is a difference between alleged improper conduct and concluding sexual harassment. Now, don’t get me wrong, this is not to say that there are 11 women who I truly offended. There are, and I deeply, deeply apologize.”
Cuomo admitted to making jokes and giving people hugs and kisses, “women and men.”
“I have slipped and called people ‘honey, ’sweetheart’ and ‘darling.’ I mean it to be endearing but women found it dated and offensive,” he continued. “I take full responsibility for my actions. I have been too familiar with people. My sense of humor can be insensitive and off-putting.”
“In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone, but I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn,” he added. “There are generational and cultural shifts that I just didn’t fully appreciate. And I should have, no excuses.”
This comes after the Democrats and Hollywood gave Cuomo an Emmy for his “masterful” handling of the Covid pandemic. The same pandemic that led to Cuomo killing 25,000 New Yorkers, or about 15 percent of the total number of Americans who have died from COVID-19.
Why he felt the need to put Covid positive patients into nursing homes with grandma and grandpa is a mystery considering President Trump sent a medical ship to the New York harbor as aid. That ship went unused.
Now, Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, who served as a member of Congress from 2011 to 2013, will assume the role of governor, becoming the first woman to lead the Empire State.
It has taken much too long for the disgraced New York governor to finally resign. It’s a shame that it took sexual harassment allegations and not the 25,000 dead New Yorkers for him to finally leave.
