Poppy the Troll Doll From Trolls: World Tour and the Button

A very popular cartoon for the kids that’s out now is the Trolls. It’s one of those over serialized cartoons that’s full of songs, bright colors, and everything that young children want in a cartoon. I remember having the original Troll dolls as a kid. You know the one.

These guys. The short, crazy haired, ugly ones.

As the years went on the Troll dolls received makeovers as all of our childhood cartoons do and the doll in question, Poppy, looks like this, she’s the pink one in the middle. This is a poster from the Trolls World Tour movie.

It came out in the past few weeks that the Poppy Troll doll has a secret button. Right on the vaginal area.

The Troll Doll Controversy 3

Isn’t that a curious place to put a button on a doll designed for young children when there’s so much controversy surrounding pedophilia?

Surely that button doesn’t do anything. Right?

Wrong.

The troll doll makes gasping, giggling, and other pleasurable sounds when her button is pushed.

While the company, Hasbro, has denied that the button is there to groom young children for pedophilia and sex trafficking, I’m not inclined to believe them. Their excuse that the button was there to simply make Poppy giggle when she’s placed in a sitting position sounds like a load of BS.

Julie Duffy, the senior vice president of global communications for Hasbro said, “This feature was designed to react when the doll was seated, but we recognize the placement of the sensor may be perceived as inappropriate. This was not intentional and we are happy to provide consumers with a replacement Poppy doll of similar value through our Consumer Care team.”

Some fact checking sites claim that it’s just a group of loud moms who are over dramatizing a button, I can’t help but think why would they put the button there? Why would this company, a toy company for very young children, think that a button on the vagina of a doll is appropriate?

While Hasbro may not have intended to come across as creepy, grooming, pedophiles, they have. The company is now removing the toy from stores.
