Starting tomorrow, Tuesday July 20th 2020, President Donald Trump will continue his COVID-19 briefings. This will be the first such briefing since late April.
The president told reporters that he thinks “it’s a great way to get information out to the public as to where we are with the vaccine, with the therapeutics, and generally speaking where we are. So I think we’ll start that, probably starting tomorrow.”
Many staffers and advisors to the President have been pushing for him to start the briefings up again. They believe he calms and controls the messaging better than the media does, considering a lot of the bias that exists.
“I just think the people want to hear from the President of the United States,” said Kellyanne Conway. “Doesn’t have to be daily. Doesn’t have to be for two hours. But in my view it has to be.”
The U.S. currently has almost 4 million cases reported at the time of this writing. Of which, almost 144,000 of those are deaths and over 1.8 million have recovered.
There have been many reports of these numbers, both deaths and cases, being inflated, however. Many of those who have had the virus but died from other causes, are being counted as a COVID-19 death.
