Mayor of LA Will Have DWP Utility Cut Off Power Within 48 Hours of Reported Infraction

As he did in March to businesses, the Mayor of LA, Eric Garcetti, has authorized DWP Utility to start shutting off power and water to homes that hold large gatherings starting Friday, August 7th, 2020.

“Starting on Friday night, if the LAPD responds and verifies that a large gathering is occurring at a property, and we see these properties re-offending time and time again, they will provide notice and initiate the process to request that DWP shut off service within the next 48 hours.”

After allowing protests, he is deciding to push forward with penalizing those who hold large gatherings in their homes. However, this is going further than arresting and keeping people from practicing their civil liberties. The government is now authorizing the basis of all life to be cut from your home… water.

See for yourself.

The mayor noted that “some” research indicates that maybe only 10% of people cause 80% of COVID-19 cases due to being “super spreaders.” Again, that’s some research.

“The consequences of these large parties ripple far beyond just those parties. They ripple throughout our entire community,” said Garcetti.

This seems not only un-Constitutional, but also a bit inhumane. Can or should government be able to do this? Especially when you PAY for these services and utilities?
