The 2A Shall Not be Infringed

The second amendment, or 2A, was introduced into The Constitution in 1791 as a means for the people to protect themselves. It states that, “a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Shall. Not. Be. Infringed. It seems that this is exactly what is happening. The government has been steadily growing and growing over the decades and seems to have forgotten that they are not kings and dictators but rather representatives of the people.

I’ve been reading and watching news stations and other leftists calling for gun control. Their fear of mass shootings has them so afraid they would rather give up their rights. Who does this hurt though? The criminals who commit atrocities or law-abiding citizens?

We have seen throughout history, time and time again, what happens to the citizens once the government starts to mandate gun control. When people are unarmed, they die.

History of Disarming

In 1911 the Turks disarmed the Armenians due to them ‘not being trustworthy’ which resulted in the death of 1.5 million people.

The Bolsheviks disarmed the people of the Soviet Union in 1929. Between 1929 and 1953 the Bolsheviks rounded up and killed 20 million dissidents.

China disarmed citizens in 1935. Between 1948 and 1952, in just four years, they killed 20 million people.

Nazi Germany disarmed its citizens in 1938. What followed is one of the most publicized mass executions. Between 1939 and 1945 six million people were killed. Adolf Hitler had risen to power and subsequently had concentration camps erected which ended up being mass death camps.

Cambodia disarmed its people in 1956. From 1975 to 1977 the government killed 1 million people.

Guatemala disarmed its citizens in 1964. Over the course of 16 years, they executed 100,000 Mayan Indians.

Uganda disarmed its citizens in 1970. From 1971 to 1979 300,000 Christians were killed.

2A-less Cities

It’s a disturbing trend that the left keeps saying won’t happen here. We have a few gun-free cities here in the U.S of A. One of those being Chicago. Now if you live in a gun free zone you’re expecting it to be gun free, right?

Well, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

In 2017, 653 criminal homicides were committed with firearms. There were 2,782 shooting incidents, and 3,466 shooting victims.

Now in 2017, there were 2.716 million people living in Chicago.

Let’s take a look at a non-gun-free zone.

In Pittsburgh, PA during 2017, there were about 51 criminal homicides by firearm and 189 shooting victims. Pittsburgh did, however, only have 302,407 people living there in the same year. So, we need to be fair and do a more per capita comparison.

Quick math tells us that Pittsburgh has about 1/9th the population of Chicago. If we multiply all of the Pittsburgh numbers, that will give us a much better comparison.

51 criminal homicides multiplied by 9 comes to 549. Which is about 100 less criminal homicides than Chicago. Not a huge difference, but still a difference.

Now, however, the real eye-opener comes in at the shooting victims in whole. If we take the 189 victims in Pittsburgh and multiply by 9, we get 1701. Compare that to the 3,466 victims in Chicago and you’ll find, when accounting for population differences, Chicago had more than twice as many shooting victims.

My Take

What this tells me is that when you take guns away from the good guys, only the bad guys have them. You can’t protect your family, your home, or yourself.

What I also take from disarming citizens: only the government has weapons. When the government is the only entity with the firearms, you are left with no means of retaliation if they want to kill you and your family.

We fought a war that started in 1765 against a tyrannical government. We fought oppression and persecution. What’s happening now is a tyrannical government and a few crazy leftists are trying to control the population by preaching “gun-control.” What they actually mean is population control. Also, what they mean is a reduction in our freedoms.
